COUNTY ENGINEER TO SERVE ON ARTBA BOARD
American Road and Transportation Builders Association

Butler County Engineer Dean C. Foster has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). He will serve a term that expires in 2003.

"I'm very pleased and honored to be part of one of this country's top transportation associations," Foster said. "I look forward to representing Butler County as well as Ohio on transportation issues facing the United States."

Foster added: "America's economy is founded on its transportation system. Over my six years as Butler County Engineer I have been able to bring over $70 million in State and Federal dollars to improve the status of roads and bridges in this County. The U.S. economy is continuously growing and I will work hard to increase the funding for roads and bridges across the United States in my role with ARTBA."

Founded in 1902, the ARTBA is the only national association that exclusively represents the collective interests of all sectors of the U.S. transportation construction industry before the White House, Congress, and federal agencies. ARTBA advocates strong federal investment in the nation’s transportation infrastructure with more than 5,000 members who have an economic stake in transportation development programs. The U.S. transportation construction industry generates more than $160 billion annually in economic activity and provides employment for more than 2.2 million Americans.

ARTBA maintains a number of standing committee and policy advisory councils that work on issues to promote the effectiveness and efficiency of the transportation construction industry. The association has eight membership divisions: contractors, planning and design, transportation officials, traffic safety, materials and services, public-private ventures, educators, and equipment manufacturers.

Members of the ARTBA have extensive knowledge and experience in building U.S. road, rail, air, port, and waterway facilities over the last century. It is one of the oldest and most successful national trade associations in the United States.
