MILL ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT BEGINS
Wayne Township road to close January 16

Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens reports that the Mill Road bridge over Elk Creek in Wayne Township is slated for replacement beginning Tuesday, January 16, 2001. This is rescheduled from an earlier closing date originally set in December. Located 0.2 mile east of Cotton Run Road and 0.7 mile west of Shurz Road, the new bridge is scheduled for completion in early July 2001.

The contract for the project was awarded to Brumbaugh Construction of Arcanum, Ohio which submitted a low bid of $339,045. Federal LPA funds will be used to pay for 100 percent of the cost.

During construction, eastbound Mill Road traffic will detour south on Cotton Run Road, east on Ohio 744, and north on Shurz Road. Westbound traffic will reverse this route.

Motorists are encouraged to check the BCEO web site as the best source for possible date and status changes concerning this closure.
