Butler County Engineer Gregory J. Wilkens announces
the release of the new Official 2001-2002 Butler County Transportation
This attractive new
map is thoroughly updated with new road additions, annexations,
and incorporations. The trademark user-friendly format continues
with each Township and the major cities represented on individual
pages for greater detail. Every public roadway dedicated through
2000 is depicted in the map, including the new Michael A. Fox
Highway plus Union Centre Boulevard and the surrounding new roadway
network. (Private, undedicated streets are not shown.)
While retaining the
popular booklet style and appearance first introduced in 1992,
the preparation process for this new map was very different than
in years past, according to Wilkens. "For
the first time ever the individual maps were reproduced digitally.
The initial conversion process to digital went fairly well considering
the amount of detail in these maps. I'd like to commend all involved
for working together to produce an outstanding product."
The map also pays tribute
to the late Jack Adelsperger, a former BCEO employee who joined
Bayer Becker Engineers where he was responsible for drawing the
map in its present day form. It is from his original hand drafted
work that these maps were digitized for today's computer technology.
Other map features
include new 2000 population data, contact information for the
various County offices and township trustees, and overviews of
Butler County's 19 MetroParks.
The Official 2001-02
Butler County Transportation Maps are available to the general
public at no charge and can be obtained at the Butler County
Engineer's Office, the Butler County Government Services Center,
plus various other locations throughout the County.
