April 19, 2011: Closing
scheduled for April 25, 2011 postponed due to inclement weather.
The recent and frequent heavy rains have prevented utility crews
from finishing utility relocations necessary before construction
can begin. A rescheduled closing date has not yet been determined.
Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that the Ross Hanover Road bridge over a
branch of Indian Creek will be replaced beginning April 25. Located
in the Village of Millville just east of U.S. 27, the current
bridge is a steel pony truss structure built in 1958 and rehabilitated
in 1983. The Engineer's Office plans to replace the old bridge
with a new, safer pre-stressed concrete box beam bridge.
A construction contract
for the project was awarded to Brumbaugh Construction of Arcanum,
Ohio which submitted a low bid of $604,946. Funding will consist
of State OPWC grant money and local BCEO matching funds.
All work is scheduled
for completion by early August 2011, weather permitting.
