Update: April 19, 2011
For Immediate Release

ROSS HANOVER ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT TO BEGIN
Road Closing April 25
Village of Millville

Update April 19, 2011: Closing scheduled for April 25, 2011 postponed due to inclement weather. The recent and frequent heavy rains have prevented utility crews from finishing utility relocations necessary before construction can begin. A rescheduled closing date has not yet been determined.

Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens reports that the Ross Hanover Road bridge over a branch of Indian Creek will be replaced beginning April 25. Located in the Village of Millville just east of U.S. 27, the current bridge is a steel pony truss structure built in 1958 and rehabilitated in 1983. The Engineer's Office plans to replace the old bridge with a new, safer pre-stressed concrete box beam bridge.

A construction contract for the project was awarded to Brumbaugh Construction of Arcanum, Ohio which submitted a low bid of $604,946. Funding will consist of State OPWC grant money and local BCEO matching funds.

All work is scheduled for completion by early August 2011, weather permitting.

Road Closing and Maintenance of Traffic

Ross Hanover Road will close 0.1 mile east of U.S. 27 and 0.3 mile west of Santa Maria Drive for this bridge replacement beginning Monday, April 25, 2011.

Detours will be posted for all thru traffic but local access will be maintained for residents, businesses, and emergency vehicles; however, local access will be limited to either the west or east side of the bridge project, depending upon one's location.

The road is tentatively scheduled to reopen the week of August 1, 2011.

Detour: Eastbound Ross Hanover Road traffic will detour south on U.S. 27 and northeast on Hamilton New London Road. Westbound traffic will reverse this route.

Motorists are encouraged to check the Road Closings page here on the BCEO web site as the best source for possible date and status changes concerning this closure.
