Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that a bridge on Baker Road will be replaced
beginning August 17. Located in northern Milford Township, the
current bridge, which spans Williams Run, is a steel pony truss
built in 1962. The Engineer's Office plans to replace the old
bridge with a new, safer pre-stressed concrete box beam structure.
A construction contract
for the project has been awarded to Brumbaugh Construction, Inc.
of Arcanum, Ohio which submitted a low bid of $588,524. Funding
consists of State OPWC grant money and local BCEO matching funds.
All work is scheduled
for completion by mid-November, weather permitting.
and Maintenance of Traffic
Baker Road will close
0.1 mile northwest of Somerville Road and 0.6 mile southeast
of the Frazee Road intersection for the bridge replacement beginning
Monday, August 17, 2015. The road is tentatively scheduled to
reopen the week of November 16, 2015.
During this closure,
local access will be maintained for residents, businesses, and
emergency vehicles from either side of the bridge, depending
upon one's location, but motorists will not be permitted to pass
through the construction zone and detours will be posted for
all thru traffic.
Detour: Northwestbound Baker Road
traffic will detour west on Somerville Road, northwest on Ohio
177, north on Oren Road, and east on Frazee Road to Baker. Southeastbound
traffic will reverse this route.
Motorists are encouraged
