Butler County Engineer
Greg Wilkens reports that Millikin Road will close between Ohio
747 and Winding Creek Boulevard for a roadway improvement beginning
August 22. This project involves widening the existing lanes
to eleven feet, adding two-foot paved shoulders, and adjusting
the vertical profile near the east end of the project limits.
A small knob will be cut down and a dip filled in. Additionally,
the westbound left turn lane onto Ohio 747 will be lengthened,
two culverts will be modified and a third culvert will be fully
replaced. Total project length is approximately 3,600 linear
As part of the same
contract but separate from the work east of Ohio 747, turn lanes
will be added on Millikin Road west of 747 for the new Vista
Verde subdivision. The entrance will be directly across from
the Princeton Pike Church entrance. There will be no road closures
in conjunction with this work.
A construction contract
has been awarded to the John R. Jurgensen Company of Cincinnati
which submitted a low bid of $858,499. Funding for the project
consists of State OPWC grant money and local BCEO funds.
All work is scheduled
for completion by early November, weather permitting.
and Maintenance of Traffic
Millikin Road will
close between Ohio 747 and Winding Creek Boulevard for the roadway
improvement beginning Monday, August 22, 2016. The road is tentatively
scheduled to reopen the week of November 7, 2016.
During this closure,
detours will be posted for all thru traffic; however, local access
will be maintained for residents of Millikin Road within the
construction zone as well as for the Carriage Crossing subdivision.
During the culvert replacement however, local traffic and emergency
vehicles will enter from either the west or east side, depending
upon their destination relative to the culvert, which is located
approximately 0.2 mile east of Tilbury Trail.
Detour: Eastbound Millikin Road traffic
will detour south on Ohio 747, east on Princeton Road, and north
on Yankee Road to Millikin. Westbound traffic will reverse this
