UPGRADES COMING TO MILLIKIN ROAD
Road Closing August 22
Liberty Township

Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens reports that Millikin Road will close between Ohio 747 and Winding Creek Boulevard for a roadway improvement beginning August 22. This project involves widening the existing lanes to eleven feet, adding two-foot paved shoulders, and adjusting the vertical profile near the east end of the project limits. A small knob will be cut down and a dip filled in. Additionally, the westbound left turn lane onto Ohio 747 will be lengthened, two culverts will be modified and a third culvert will be fully replaced. Total project length is approximately 3,600 linear feet.

As part of the same contract but separate from the work east of Ohio 747, turn lanes will be added on Millikin Road west of 747 for the new Vista Verde subdivision. The entrance will be directly across from the Princeton Pike Church entrance. There will be no road closures in conjunction with this work.

A construction contract has been awarded to the John R. Jurgensen Company of Cincinnati which submitted a low bid of $858,499. Funding for the project consists of State OPWC grant money and local BCEO funds.

All work is scheduled for completion by early November, weather permitting.

Road Closing and Maintenance of Traffic

Millikin Road will close between Ohio 747 and Winding Creek Boulevard for the roadway improvement beginning Monday, August 22, 2016. The road is tentatively scheduled to reopen the week of November 7, 2016.

During this closure, detours will be posted for all thru traffic; however, local access will be maintained for residents of Millikin Road within the construction zone as well as for the Carriage Crossing subdivision. During the culvert replacement however, local traffic and emergency vehicles will enter from either the west or east side, depending upon their destination relative to the culvert, which is located approximately 0.2 mile east of Tilbury Trail.

Detour: Eastbound Millikin Road traffic will detour south on Ohio 747, east on Princeton Road, and north on Yankee Road to Millikin. Westbound traffic will reverse this route.

Motorists are encouraged to check the Road Closings page here on the BCEO web site as the best source for possible date and status changes concerning this closure.
