Greg Wilkens reports that Hankins Road will close for roadway
improvements between LeSourdsville West Chester Road and Yankee
Road beginning Monday, August 7, 2017. The project involves two
culvert replacements and rehabilitation of the pavement, including
subgrade repairs and resurfacing. Total project length is approximately
"This is a joint
effort among Liberty and Lemon Townships, the City of Monroe,
and our office," said Wilkens. "We were also able to
secure State OPWC funds to help pay for the project." Hankins
Road is a township road straddling the Liberty / Lemon Township
line but is also partially incorporated by Monroe. The Butler
County Engineer's Office coordinated project development and
engineering and will oversee the construction phase as well.
BCEO crews will replace
the two culverts and pavement rehabilitation will be performed
by the John R. Jurgensen Company of Cincinnati.
All work is scheduled
for completion by mid-September, weather permitting.
and Maintenance of Traffic
Hankins Road will close
to thru traffic between LeSourdsville West Chester Road and Yankee
Road beginning Monday, August 7, 2017. The road is tentatively
scheduled to reopen the week of September 18, 2017.
During this closure,
local access will be maintained for residents of Hankins Road
within the construction zone as well as for side streets, including
Crossings Boulevard and Roden Park Drive. Residents of these
subdivisions however are advised to utilize alternate access
into and out their subdivisions in order to minimize as much
as possible the amount of traffic within the Hankins Road construction
Detour: Eastbound Hankins Road traffic
will detour south on LeSourdsville West Chester Road, east on
Kyles Station Road, and north on Yankee Road to Hankins. Westbound
traffic will reverse this route. Note: Kyles Station Road, currently
closed at Mauds Hughes Road, will be reopened when this detour
goes into effect.
Note about culvert
During the two culvert replacements, complete closure at the
culverts will be necessary. Local access will be from the east.
The first culvert is 400 feet east of LeSourdsville West Chester
Road and the second culvert is located 0.2 mile east of LeSourdsville
West Chester. Both culverts should be completed within the first
week of construction.
