Butler County Engineer
Dean C. Foster announced today that he has obtained guaranteed
funding for three major road projects in Union Township. Seven
million dollars in Federal Highway-Urban funds will be used to
- 1) Cincinnati Dayton
Road from Crescentville Road to West Chester Road;
- 2) Tylersville Road
from LeSourdsville West Chester Road to Cincinnati Dayton Road;
- 3) Tylersville Road
from Cincinnati Dayton Road to Wetherington Drive.
All three projects
will involve adding a center turn lane to improve traffic flow
and widening the shoulders for added safety Foster explained
at today's Southeast Butler County Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Federal Highway funds
were approved by the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of
Governments (OKI) after Foster lobbied for the much needed projects.
"These newly acquired funds will allow us to improve the
lengthy stretches in between several spot improvements that have
already been completed," noted Foster. "Our engineers
can now begin project design and environmental studies can commence
this year with construction likely by 2004."
The BCEO has already
constructed several intersection improvements along Cincinnati
Dayton Road, including widening and adding turn lanes at Crescentville
Road, Allen Road, and Dimmick Road, plus realigning and widening
the intersection at West Chester Road.
The Engineer's Office
also completed a major safety improvement to the Tylersville
/ LeSourdsville West Chester Road intersection in 1998. Beginning
late this year, the BCEO will improve the Tylersville / Cincinnati
Dayton Road intersection as part of a major rehabilitation project
scheduled for Cincinnati Dayton Road.
